Aufgaben
Due to the consideration of multiple components in a calculation contact between these components has become an important issue. Among the available contact implementations penalty contact excels due to its easy interpretation, simple implementation and short computational times. Therefore, penalty contact was the first contact formulation to be implemented in CalculiX (www.calculix.de). In the last couple of years the formulation has been improved with respect to friction, stability and computational speed. At the present stage its introduction in the productive design of aircraft engine components is at stake. To this end the following subtasks have to be completed:
- comparison of the CalculiX results (contact stresses) with ABAQUS for simple structures; Determination of the appropriate penalty parameters to obtain comparable results with ABAQUS
- in CalculiX quadratic elements at the contact surfaces are remeshed into linear elements; Comparison of the resulting contact stresses with ABAQUS. Implementation of the remeshing procedure to 1-d (beams) and 2-d (shells, axisymmetric elements and plane stress/strain elements)
- Application of the penalty contact method to a selection of real engine components: casing structures and contact areas between blades and disks; Verification of the stability and computational speed of the method, comparison with ABAQUS
Prerequisites for potential candidates are:
- Master student in civil or mechanical engineering
- Knowledge of C and/or FORTRAN
- Experience with the finite element method
Beginn: ab sofort
Dauer: 6 Monate
Die monatliche Vergütung beträgt 800,-€ brutto bei einer 35-Stunden-Woche.
Das Thema kann auch im Rahmen eines Praktikums bearbeitet werden.
